The Mabuchi International Scholarship Foundation offers scholarships to international students who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate studies at the University of Tsukuba in Japan. The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses, and travel expenses.
About the University of Tsukuba
The University of Tsukuba is a public research university located in Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan. It is a top 10 Designated National University and was ranked Type A by the Japanese government as part of the Top Global University Project.
The university has 28 college clusters and schools with around 16,500 students (as of 2014). The main Tsukuba campus covers an area of 258 hectares (636 acres), making it the second-largest single campus in Japan.

Details of Awards: The scholarship is renewable for up to four years for undergraduate students and up to two years for graduate students, provided the recipient maintains a high level of academic achievement and continues to have financial needs.

Eligibility Criteria for the Mabuchi International Scholarship Foundation
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must
- be enrolled in a degree program at the University of Tsukuba, have a high level of academic achievement, and have financial needs.
- also, have excellent Japanese language skills or be willing to take Japanese language classes at the university.
- be financially in need and have difficulty attending school (household income of fewer than 5 million yen)
